The Oli Leigh Legacy Programme

The Oli Leigh Trust is pleased to announce the launch of a new bursary fund to provide essential suicide prevention training for schools, youth groups, sports clubs, voluntary organisations and universities.

The fully funded training will be delivered by the OLLIE Foundation, a suicide prevention charity partnering with the Trust to deliver an innovative and dynamic range of training. The OLLIE Foundation have been delivering training since 2016 and have thus far delivered life-saving suicide prevention training to over 10,000 individuals in Hertfordshire and beyond.

Tragically, in 2020 there were over 5,000 deaths by suicide registered in England and Wales. Alongside this we are seeing self-harming behaviours rise and children's wellbeing deteriorate.

As it is both the Oli Leigh Trust’s and the OLLIE Foundation’s mission to create suicide safer communities, and in recognition of the increasingly pressing need of both support and education, both charities have joined forces and can now offer The Oli Leigh Trust Legacy Programme.

In memory of her beautiful son, Oli, Michelle Leigh has been inspired to bring this Legacy Programme to fruition.

Michelle Leigh, Founder of The Oli Leigh Trust says; "
“I still find it hard knowing that this is real and that this is forever. I can’t believe that I will never be able to kiss him and hold him and tell him I love him. The loss I feel is with me every moment of the day. I don’t want anyone else to feel like this. The Oli Leigh Legacy Funding Programme is our way of achieving this aim”

The Oli Leigh Legacy Programme is funded by The Oli Leigh Trust and offers bursaries that will cover the costs for schools, colleges, community groups and universities to access a range of talks and training provided by The OLLIE Foundation and provide funded places for parents to attend their open online sessions.

Debi Roberts MA Ed, CEO of the The OLLIE Foundation says;
"This incredible partnership allows us to be more than the sum of our parts. Working together, means we can support even more young people to keep themselves and others safe in moments of despair and overwhelm. This is very much in the spirit of Oli Leigh and something we are honoured to do in his name"

Successful applicants will be able to access talks and training including; Talk Safe, Plan Safe, The Science of Goal Setting, Keeping Safe and Carrying On, and Suicide Awareness of Teens.

Please email contactus@theolliefoundation.org for your copy of the application form

All schools, youth groups, sports clubs, voluntary organisations, and universities are invited to apply for this life saving fully funded training opportunity.

About the OLLIE Foundation
The OLLIE Foundation was established in 2016 by three parents who tragically lost their sons to suicide. They met in bereavement support, and together vowed to do all they could to stop another family experiencing what they were going through. OLLIE is an acronym, and stands for One Life Lost Is Enough. The Foundation has trained over 10,000 people and as a suicide prevention charity is dedicated to delivering both wellbeing and suicide awareness, intervention and prevention training to students, parents, and education and health professionals. They also strive to advance the pedagogy and discourse of suicide studies and effective early intervention and prevention techniques and strategies www.theolliefoundation.org
